FILA x A TRIBE CALLED QUEST

Footwear can play a crucial role in our daily lives. Before we start our day, we choose what we want to wear, along with what sneakers we will step out of our houses with.

Story telling through footwear allows consumers to own a wearable piece of a story that they relate to on a daily or weekly basis.

FILA x A Tribe called Quest: 2015

It was the year 2015, worked with Consequence, Rapper / Artist and member of A Tribe Called Quest.

Footwear retailer Stadium Goods just opened their doors at the time, and Consequence began speaking to the staff over at Stadium Goods in hopes of im pitch an idea for a special limited edition Tribe themed FILA FX-100 that would go on to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their “Beats Rhymes and Life” album and the release of their last and final album honoring the late “Phife Dog”. I worked hand in hand with Consequence through email exchanges and late night calls tirelessly to come up with a final design that he and his crew were satisfied with.

Through this exchange, he also pitched the opportunity to create a few track artwork covers for him. This collaboration really satisfies my inner 16 year old given that it allowed me to be  featured on Complex Sneakers, Sole Collector and Sneaker News. I would frequent these sites daily in order to teach myself as much as I can about the sneaker culture. Validation from an artist I’ve listened to countless times was also a defining moment in my freelance career.
